Product overview

Product overview

SynthEyes 2025.5 is standalone tracking software for motion capture, live-action compositing of CG characters, and 3D set augmentation.

Specializing in camera, object, geometry, planar tracking, stabilization, and motion capture, SynthEyes is feature-rich, can export tracking data to a wide range of applications, and is available at a very reasonable price.

SynthEyes can be used for a variety of applications including inserts, shake correction, virtual sets, object removal, stereoscopic production, 360° VR, architectural previews, accident reenactments, product placement, face and body capture, and more.

In development since 2003, SynthEyes is used by VFX artists worldwide.

2025.5 New Features

  • Flexible Lens Workflow Export : Lens distortion correction is automatically applied on export, providing consistent, distortion-safe results across all platforms.
  • ML Motion Estimation : Uses machine learning to generate accurate motion vectors, improving track quality and reducing manual correction.
  • Mesh and Tracker Parenting : Link meshes to trackers with one click, making it easier to align objects and maintaining the relationship even after export.
  • Other enhancements include expanded mask controls, automatic video rotation handling, LUT folder organization, and support for the new Blackmagic RAW 17K codec.

Flexible lens workflow export

The Flexible Lens Workflow Export feature eliminates the need for tedious distortion management, enabling predictable and consistent output. It allows you to apply non-destructive image correction or re-distortion to each export, giving you flexible control over margins, resolution, and compatibility with downstream processes, all while keeping your project intact.

  • Unified output behavior : Apply Undistort/Redistort only when and where needed, without requiring any fixed changes to the scene.
  • Non-destructive workflow : freely change and rewind distortion settings for each export without altering the footage or solve results.
  • Consistent UI design : A unified interface across all export modules allows for quick and accurate setup for each shot.

ML Motion Estimation

ML Motion Estimation is a new autotracking feature that utilizes machine learning. It generates pixel-by-pixel motion (motion vectors) for each frame, improving prediction accuracy to reduce tracker drift and reduce the burden of post-processing. It achieves stable tracking even in shots with a lot of blur, occlusion, or noise.

  • Pixel-by-pixel motion detection : Analyzes spatially accurate motion vectors for every frame.
  • Great for challenging footage : Handles occlusion, motion blur, flickering, and repeating patterns.
  • Lower hpix values : Improved tracker position stability and improved solve accuracy.
  • Intuitive implementation : Easily enabled via the newly added "Motion Model" setting.

Mesh-to-Tracker Parenting

Mesh-to-Tracker Parenting is a new feature that allows you to link geometry to a solved tracker with one click. Objects will always maintain their relative positions even when your project is updated with tracking or lens adjustments, eliminating the need for manual repositioning or corrections.

  • One-click linking : Instantly snap meshes to trackers in the viewport, with automatic pivot placement.
  • Maintained across solves : Links are maintained even after distortion, scaling, and reconstraints.
  • Can be exported as is : The link structure can be output as is to 3D software or compositing apps.
  • Pivot and offset can also be edited : Freely adjust the position, rotation and scale of the mesh while maintaining the link.

  • Dedicated LUT Folder: A new dedicated folder for managing LUT files in .cube, .3dl, and .lut formats has been added, allowing for automatic access and easy organization from the interface.
  • New Codec Support: Supports Blackmagic RAW SDK 4.5, allowing direct import of ultra high resolution footage from URSA Cine 17K 65.
